Want to improve student behaviour? Choose from one of many classroom presentations by popular author and columnist, Judy A. Crawford. For kindergarten through grade 12, Judy offers exercises filled with wise, practical guidance. She instructs on good behaviour with themes such as anti-bullying, honesty, and politeness; she offers up lessons on building self-esteem; and she provides fun, interactive creative writing classes. Her book, Doogie Dinosaur Learns a Lesson, could be the right beginning to shape your students into caring people. It's a 25-page, vividly-illustrated picture book featuring characters in the form every young child is drawn to—the dinosaur. Bright colours and detailed expressions make it a favourite book to browse. If you like the anti-bullying message in this book, you'll want to delve into some of her other behaviour-changing presentations as she aims to teach important values to help create safe and caring schools.
Proud to be known as "Just Judy", Judy Crawford is most often presenting in school classrooms to K-12 students (elementary grades, grades 4 to 12, adults, Creative Writing students). She discusses inappropriate behaviours like bullying (see, for example, her Doogie presentation) as she tells stories with values, or teaches exciting, fun, creative writing workshops. Judy has been doing this work for some time and has a number of posters and bookmarks available. Presentations also give students the opportunity to role play, interact with the author, and to buy books, or simply get an autograph. Judy's most popular presentations include: Doogie's Lesson, Why pick on me?, Building Self-Worth, What have you done to my name, Just For Fun!, and Creating Alive Characters. There are others. Students' Letters shows only a few of the very positive responses that Judy gets from her students. If you are a teacher or a student who has participated in Judy's presentations, you'll know how interactive and exciting her sessions are. Email Judy a comment and let her know how you enjoyed her session. Judy is an established freelance writer in southern Alberta, having written for many newspapers including the Taber Times, as well she interviews and writes articles for a number of school divisions.
